Okpai-Ubah, a clan in Okpai, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, has been successfully electrified following its connection to the Okpai Independent Power Plant (IPP) step-down facility.
The development marks a major breakthrough for the community, which has endured years of inadequate and unreliable electricity supply. With the new connection, residents are now enjoying stable power from one of Nigeria’s key power generation hubs.
Community sources told Kwale Post that the arrival of IPP electricity is expected to significantly improve economic activities, particularly for small businesses, artisans, and traders who previously relied heavily on generators. The power supply is also anticipated to enhance security, healthcare delivery, and educational activities within the area.
Residents described the electrification as “long overdue,” expressing gratitude to stakeholders who played roles in ensuring the completion of the project. They also called for proper monitoring and maintenance to guarantee uninterrupted power supply.
The Okpai IPP has continued to serve as a strategic infrastructure in Delta State, with expanding impact on host and neighbouring communities through improved electricity access.
The electrification of Okpai-Ubah is seen as another step toward grassroots development in Ndokwa East, rekindling hope for sustained growth and improved living standards.
