Asaba – The Delta State House of Assembly on Tuesday received a bill seeking to amend the Delta State Public and Private Properties Protection Law, 2018, following a request from Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
The Governor's request was conveyed in a letter read during plenary by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor.
According to Governor Oborevwori, the proposed amendment is designed to strengthen the enforcement of the existing law and provide enhanced protection for both public and private properties across Delta State.
The Governor explained that the amendment seeks to establish a Public and Private Properties Task Force that will be responsible for enforcing the provisions of the law, recovering public assets, and working closely with relevant law enforcement agencies to safeguard government and privately-owned properties.
Meanwhile, the House confirmed the appointment of Mr. Osiatuma James as the General Manager of the Delta State Urban Water Corporation after due consideration of his nomination.
The Assembly also received the 2025 Audit Report on the Accounts of the Delta State Government as part of its oversight responsibilities aimed at promoting transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.
The developments formed part of proceedings during Tuesday's plenary session, reflecting the Assembly's continued commitment to strengthening governance, accountability, and the protection of public assets in the state.
