Asaba, Delta State — The city of Asaba has been officially announced as the host of the 15th Biennial Nigeria Police Games, scheduled to hold from February 7 to 14, 2026. The confirmation came on Wednesday as the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), led by Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, also unveiled the event’s official logo, mascot, theme, and slogan.
The 2026 edition will run under the theme “Beyond the Badge: Excellence in Action!” and will adopt the motto “Discipline, Dignity and Dedication.” Organisers say the Games are strategically designed to enhance unity, encourage healthy competition, and promote physical fitness among officers and men of the Force.
Speaking on the significance of the Games, the Inspector-General of Police described sports as one of the strongest instruments for building a disciplined, fit, focused and community-connected police force. He noted that the Asaba Games will help strengthen teamwork, boost morale, and celebrate the athletic prowess of officers from various commands and formations nationwide.
The hosting right awarded to Asaba, according to stakeholders, signals confidence in Delta State’s reputation for successfully handling major sporting events. The Stephen Keshi Stadium, a 22,000-capacity multipurpose facility, is expected to serve as the primary venue for the week-long competition. The stadium has previously hosted several high-level national championships, positioning it as a suitable choice for the Police Games.
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, welcomed the development and pledged full support towards ensuring a smooth, secure, and memorable tournament. He assured the organisers and athletes that the state would provide a peaceful and hospitable environment for participants, guests, and sports lovers from across Nigeria.
