Sowore Calls for Action: “Let’s March to Aso Rock for Nnamdi Kanu’s Release”
Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has issued a powerful call to action, urging political leaders and citizens across Nigeria’s Southeast region to move beyond words and take peaceful action to secure the release of detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement shared on Tuesday, Sowore declared that he is ready to set aside political differences and lead a peaceful march to Aso Rock Villa in Abuja to demand justice and freedom for Nnamdi Kanu.

“I will set aside my differences with politicians for one cause. I challenge every politician or person of good conscience from the Southeast who says they want Nnamdi Kanu released to stop the rhetoric. Time for action is NOW. Let’s march to Aso Rock Villa,” Sowore stated.

He specifically called on notable Southeast leaders including Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, and Labour Party leader Peter Obi, among others, to demonstrate genuine commitment to Kanu’s freedom by joining the peaceful protest.

“No empty noise. Let Charles Soludo, Senator Abaribe, Alex Otti, Mr. Peter Obi, and all others who claim to care step up and join us in person. We go together peacefully, legally, and visibly to demand justice and an end to MNK’s persecution,” he added.

Sowore, who has consistently spoken against injustice and unlawful detentions, emphasized that the time for rhetoric is over, stressing that Nigerians who believe in justice, fairness, and human rights must unite in peaceful resistance.

The activist’s statement comes amid renewed public pressure on the federal government to release Nnamdi Kanu, whose continued detention despite court orders has stirred widespread criticism both locally and internationally.

The campaign hashtag #FreeNnamdiKanuNow has also begun trending again on social media following Sowore’s declaration, with many Nigerians calling for solidarity and peaceful mobilization.
