Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued three kidnapped victims during an operation along the Dandume-Sheme Road in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The victims were rescued on Thursday, September 3, 2026, after residents alerted security agencies to the activities of suspected terrorists operating along the route.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said troops, working alongside personnel of the Nigeria Police, immediately mobilised to the area following the distress call.
According to Danja, the security forces engaged the terrorists and overwhelmed them with superior firepower, forcing them to flee into the surrounding bush.
“Acting on the distress call, troops in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police swiftly mobilised to the scene and made contact with the terrorists, overwhelming them with superior firepower,” he said.
He said the terrorists fled in disarray and abandoned the kidnapped victims as the advancing troops intensified their operation.
“Exploitation of the general area led to the rescue of three kidnapped victims along with two vehicles used by the terrorists,” Danja added.
The rescued victims and the recovered vehicles were subsequently handed over to the Divisional Police Officer in Dandume for further necessary action.
Danja said troops had continued to maintain an aggressive presence in the area through sustained patrols aimed at restricting the terrorists’ movements and preventing further attacks along the Dandume-Sheme corridor.
He described the operation as another demonstration of Operation FANSAN YAMMA’s commitment to protecting lives and property within its Joint Operations Area.
The military spokesperson also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to security agencies.
“Operation FANSAN YAMMA appreciates the general public for its continuous support and urges them to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities within their localities to the nearest security outpost for prompt action,” he said.
