The Skyewise Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, has supported more than 2,000 students of Government Secondary School, Gosa, in the Federal Capital Territory with essential learning materials as part of its Back-to-School Project.
The beneficiaries, comprising students from Junior Secondary School 1 to 3, received exercise books, pens, rulers, erasers and other basic educational supplies aimed at supporting their studies and improving their learning experience.
Government Secondary School, Gosa, is located along the Airport Road in the Lugbe area of the Abuja Municipal Area Council.
Speaking during the presentation, the founder of the Skyewise Foundation and Chief Executive Officer of Skyewise Group, Dr Elvis Abuyere, said his personal experience growing up without significant financial resources motivated him to support young people and give back to society.
Abuyere explained that the initiative was designed not only to provide school materials but also to encourage students to remain focused on their education and pursue their aspirations.
He urged the students to believe in themselves and remain committed to their academic development, stressing that their dreams could be achieved with determination and hard work.
The Vice Principal of the school, Mr Bala Titus, commended the foundation for supporting the students, describing the intervention as an investment in their future.
Titus noted that access to education and adequate learning resources remained important to the development of young people and called on other individuals, organisations and institutions to support schools in need.
He expressed appreciation to the Skyewise Foundation for extending its intervention to the school.
The vice principal, however, appealed to the government and other stakeholders to address some of the school's infrastructure needs.
According to him, the school requires additional basic facilities, including sufficient chairs and tables for its students.
Also speaking, the foundation's Brand Ambassador, Osazee Samuel Aikhionbare, popularly known as MC Papi, encouraged the students to take their studies seriously.
Aikhionbare urged them to remain disciplined and committed to their education, noting that dedication to learning could help them achieve their future ambitions.
The outreach was attended by several personalities, including Nigeria Info FM Abuja presenter Emmanuel Olaoluwa Aduralere Abimbola, popularly known as El-Effizy, youth leaders in the FCT and other guests.
The Skyewise Foundation has, over the past decade, carried out various interventions across the Federal Capital Territory and other parts of Nigeria, with programmes focused on education, empowerment and community development.
The latest initiative is part of the foundation's continued efforts to support young people and contribute to improved educational opportunities within underserved communities.
