Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma and his Kwara State counterpart, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, of working against him despite the political support he claimed to have given them in the past.
Wike made the allegations while speaking about his ongoing political differences with some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The FCT minister specifically accused Abdulrazaq of leading what he described as a campaign against him in political circles.
“Take, for example, Kwara, he has been the one championing this campaign against me everywhere. Yes, I have confronted him too. I don’t talk about what I cannot defend,” Wike said.
According to him, Abdulrazaq had accused him of sponsoring political candidates against those backed by the Kwara governor.
Wike, however, argued that Abdulrazaq should recognise the role he played in providing political support and a platform for aggrieved APC members who defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), rather than participating in opposition efforts against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking about his relationship with Uzodinma, Wike recalled instances in which he claimed to have supported the Imo governor politically, despite Uzodinma allegedly declining to reciprocate the gesture.
“Governor Hope, he knows the support I give to him,” Wike said.
The minister maintained that his disagreements with the two governors would not affect his broader political objective of supporting Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027.
Wike said he had consistently been open about his political position and intentions, insisting that he had never concealed his support for Tinubu.
He also challenged those accusing him of working against APC governors to identify the support they had offered him during his own political struggles.
“Any Nigerian who knows me knows that I have never hidden my intention,” he said.
